Code Z was the pre-2019 label for Section 199A information; recent K-1s use Code W instead. Both go to TurboTax's Section 199A screen in the Schedule K-1 interview — enter QBI, W-2 wages, and UBIA of property as separate fields.
It reports Section 199A Qualified Business Income data, which can unlock a deduction of up to 20% of qualified business income — often the largest deduction on a K-1 investor's return. Skipping it can forfeit real money.
No — K-1 Mapper only produces a guide mapping your box values to the right TurboTax/H&R Block screens. You still enter everything yourself in your tax software.
We extract the text from your K-1 PDF and use AI to identify each box and code, pre-filling the form for you. Your SSN/EIN are stripped out before anything is sent for extraction — we never need them. You always review and can edit every extracted value before anything is generated or paid for. Scanned/image-only PDFs aren't supported yet; you can still enter those boxes manually.
Paste the attached supplemental statement paragraph into the "Paste a STMT footnote" tool on each K-1 card. AI matches it to the correct box/code and suggests an amount — you review and click "Add" to accept it, nothing is added automatically.
All standard Form 1065 Schedule K-1 codes for boxes 1–23 (including every Box 13, 15, 17, and 20 sub-code) are covered. If you see something unusual, check your K-1's supplemental footnotes — partnerships sometimes add explanatory statements alongside standard codes.
